What Are People Saying About the 2011 Renaissance Festival Cruise?
Thanks for the wonderful cruise experience and the care you showed for all the attendees at the 2011 Renaissance Festival Cruise, which started January 30th. The 82 degree weather, sunshine and interesting tropical island visits need no explanation.
The Rennie people with their costumes and sense of humor may need a few words of explanation to outsiders. Yet they made the cruise. Have never identified a person by their missing teeth as we did one night at dinner. Lots of laughs and a chance to learn more about the Washing Well Wenches was the result. Their Saturday performance was very funny. Still have not figured out one person could hide items, such as a shoe, golf club, blow dryer, etc, on their body and still be able to walk. Each skit was funnier than the one before. People had tears running down their faces from laughter after watching their performance.
These "ladies" and their escorts certainly know how to "stop a room" with their appearance. The dining room gave them a vote of approval at their entrance on formal night. The Rennie costume detail is amazing.
Thought I understood what a full service travel agent was until this cruise. When I ran out of insulin on this cruise, Dan stepped in and helped solve my problem without blinking an eye by sharing his insulin supply. Got to be quite the joke about meeting for my "shot" during the last few days of the cruise.
So, Dan, a very special thanks for solving a very serious problem without any fuss.
Had so much fun that I sent a deposit into All Star Cruise & Travel before Dan had finalized the 2012 cruise plans. See everyone in New Orleans next January.
Thanks again,
Judy Schroeder

My husband and I have been on 3 cruises so far with this group. We look
forward to it all year! We have made friends and had great times, and have
met probably about half of the Well Wenches now (Daphne, Winnie, Dotti,
Myrtle, Ruby, Pearl, Lulu, Priscilla, and Nutmeg!), all of whom are
amazingly fun to spend time with, in and out of character.
Some of the most fun times are formal nights, when we all go to dinner
dressed in our garb. We do get some strange looks! The Well Wenches wait
till everyone's been seated for about 15 minutes, and then make a big
hooplah coming into the dining room parade style, playing their instruments,
polishing bald men's heads and just being themselves. After dinner, they
walk the ship and take pictures and talk to anyone and everyone. I don't
think there's anyone on board that doesn't know they're there by the end of
the week, and I think they make those nights a lot more laid back for
everyone.
This year, Dan the Travel Man was even able to get our group a block of time
at one of the big pools so the wenches could do their show there. Lots of
people showed up to watch and a great time was had by all! It's great to
have Dan on board with us, not just because he's a wealth of knowledge of
all things cruisey, but he's also lots of fun (and a great dancer and
karaoke singer!)
This year, we took our oldest son, who is 7, and my mother in law, who had
never been to a renaissance festival, and really didn't have any desire to
go to one. By the second formal night, I was glad I'd brought my extra garb
because we got her laced into a bodice! My son still misses seeing the
wenches every day, going on adventures around the ship with Daphne, doing "Guinness math" with Pearl, telling jokes to Ruby, and making odd noises
with Lulu.
Before going on trips with this group, I had always gone on trips with just
my husband or my family, never with friends. I have to say that it's so nice
to go somewhere and see familiar faces and have conversations with friends
while you're vacationing. We can't wait till next year to see our old
friends, and meet some new ones!
Shannon
